In March 2019 we were delighted to have been chosen as the winners for the the High Sheriff Awards 2019. Please take a look at the video which is a lovely testament to our work - we really do feel very proud.
Award for Voluntary Service
The MBE for voluntary groups
FACES are enormously proud to have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK, often called the ‘MBE for groups’.
FACES Volunteers offer practical and emotional support to those who need it. Our diverse team of volunteers come from all over and include parents, grand-parents, and people with experience of working with families.
We also train to assist in children’s centres, or take an extended course to work with families in their homes, which can be a useful step to employment or further education.
This is a fabulous recognition of the extraordinary work that our volunteers carry out, and the dedication and hard work of the staff team in training and supporting each volunteer.
We are so proud of our unique services, our ethos and the outcomes that the children and families that we support can achieve. Anybody who visits us, works in partnership with us, volunteers with us or benefits directly from the services we provide will know that this is something we will not compromise on and we will work with each child, parent and family for as long as it is necessary to ensure that the children we support live happier, healthier and safer lives.
CAN YOU HELP? FACES have just launched an appeal on Local Giving to fund LunchBox@FACES. This project is currently not funded so we are appealing for donations, no matter how small, to allow us to provide this service again this Summer. Thank you to each and everyone of you for your continued support of FACES, together we are making a difference. Further details can be found on the following link.
On 31 May 2019 the St Philip & St James Charity Golf Day took place at Pavenham Park Golf Club. FACES along with Carers in Bedfordshire are their chosen charities attended the day. It was lovely and sunny and people were extremely generous with thier donations and participation in the raffle and auction. An incredible £14,000 was raised, £7,000 for FACES and £7,000 for Carers in Bedfordshire.
After a successful asset transfer from Bedford Borough Council, FACES are now the proud lease holders of the newly refurbished Church Lane Community Centre 'The Centre'. FACES will now be managing the fabulous facilities on behalf of the community we serve.
