Chairman's Introduction -Annual Report 2014/15

October 3, 2015

FACES Bedford has continued through 2014/15 to work in the field of family support with an innovative and exciting approach, reflecting emerging policy, being mindful of the ever-changing face of finance and funding, and being creative thinkers though all sections of the organisation.

Family support is vital in our community and society.  There is no ‘one size fits all’ in terms of the requirements of a challenged family, and the innovative style of work by FACES Bedford provides tailor-made services both in type and length to ensure the most targeted services are available.

Our professional staff team, our dedicated and inspiring volunteers, and our skilled Trustees are drawn from the communities in which we work. Diverse cultures and talents ensure that the fast-moving family support culture is constantly challenged and prevention strategies restructured as required.

Our partnership working with Bedford Borough, The Harpur Trust, The Henry Smith Foundation, Big Lottery Fund and Children in Need create very effective and strong working relationships, and ensure careful and considered management structures and funding planning for the future.  All charitable organisations spend an extraordinary amount of time working on funding and FACES is no different, but we have worked to build considerable expertise in this area, and strive to future-proof the organisation at all levels.

We have not been without challenges; last year we were facing a less certain future on funding and tenders options, but extraordinary work from all sections of the team, plus a CEO who does not take no for an answer, has placed us where we are today.

FACES Bedford has created tailored services to work with families to build a better future. Solid working practices, top class recording and assessment, continuous learning and development at all team levels ensure an exceptional third sector organisation. FACES take that professionalism and add non-judgemental compassion, dedication, and a belief that assisting families to work together to create resilient, happy, healthy family lives is the way to strong and compassionate communities.
